Tony Stewart was named the NASCAR Illustrated Person of the Year presented by Old Spice in a prerace ceremony at the Ford 400. NASCAR Illustrated chose to honor Stewart because of his charitable interests and the generosity of the Tony Stewart Foundation. Through his non-profit foundation, Stewart has twice donated $1 million to the Victory Junction Gang Camp and has given over $4 million in total since starting the foundation in 2003. Stewart joins a list of previous recipients including Jeff Burton, Kyle Petty, Mark Martin and Rusty Wallace. Stewart is the cover subject of the December 2008 issue of NASCAR Illustrated, which is available on newsstands across the country.
